（一）按话题cluster背诵单词5，memorize vocabulary “thematically”。比如托福单词可以按地理，物理，天文，生物，动物，建筑，艺术，历史，人文，科技，教育，校园，环境等话题记忆单词。口语听力阅读写作都可以按照这个思路积累词汇，考试在遇到相关话题时，能*激活所背词汇。托福听力lectures主要分为四大类：arts；life science；physical science；social science* ，然后在细分话题词汇。

 

（二）按词组背诵。语言学家Michael Lewis推崇语言学习要按词组in lexical chunks(phrases)来背单词，而不是on a word-by-word basis记忆单词5。有的考生在写作口语中通过中文直译，导致使用大量怪异的难词搭配，就是我们所说的中式英语Chinglish。如realize self-achievement；achieve self-independence；The speed of high speed train is almost as fast as plane.* 。

 

（三）按单词出现频率背诵。具有2000高频词汇量的学生能够理解几乎80%的普通文本；1800高频词汇就能进行80%口语对话6。在听力阅读中经常遇到的生词就非常重要，需要记下。

 

（四）经常使用。“Connect new words with your own experiences.”7 在背贴背的1号线地铁车厢内背诵有关’crowded’词汇就很应景。ogle搜索“beijing subway crowded”，可以找到如下表达8：in rush hour；those with claustrophobia；is packed with commuters；packed like sardines(If people are packed or squashed like sardines, they are positioned very close together so that they cannot move: We were squashed like sardines in the rush-hour train.)9；those coming off the train have to almost stage battle with those wanting to get on；pushing and shoving；be physically pulled off the train by another commuter。

 

（五）背同义词。托福阅读中有数题是考词汇同义词；口语也可以进行替换，使语言表达更加丰富。
